Legal Advocacy
Legal service are an integral part of the restoration journey. Many clients find themselves lost in a legal system that view them as criminals instead of victims. In addition to maintaining close partnerships with local and federal law-enforcement agencies, our professional Legal Advocates work with each client to help identify legal needs, connect them with legal services and walk beside them as they navigate the legal system. Some of the legal service our partners specialize in include:
- Family, Criminal and Civil law
- Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) and Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS)
- Personal Protection Orders and Restraining Orders

Health Advocacy
Clients often enter our program at times of great need. It is common for our clients to have just exited a physically or emotionally abusive crisis situation, and denied access to basic health service for extended periods of time. Our licensed Health Advocates complete initial and routine health screenings to identify health needs and connect clients with needed and in some cases life-saving health services. Some of the medical and health needs we partner to provide include:
- Emergency Services
- Forensic Health and Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations (SANE)
- Primary Care
- Women’s Health: Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN),
- Dental Care

Counseling and Therapy
Although many individuals may not readily identify the need to address their trauma, trauma-informed services offer clients an opportunity to explore the impact of their trauma, their strengths and creative adaptations in managing their trauma histories, their resilience, and the relationship among trauma, substance abuse, physical, and psychological symptoms.
Rended Heart offers trauma-informed mental health services with both licensed therapists and pastoral counselors who reflect a compassionate perspective of our client’s presenting problems. Our therapists work to provide an atmosphere and environment that creates a greater sense of safety for clients who have a history of trauma and a platform for counteracting more serious effects of traumatic stress.
